Overview *
A cataract is a clouding of the eye's lens, and is very common after age 65. Signs of cataracts include: - Blurry vision - Poor night vision - Seeing halos around lights - Faded colors - Double vision
In mild cases, eyeglasses may help for a period of time. Cataract surgery is recommended as vision becomes more blurred. During an outpatient procedure, the eye itself is numbed. The clouded lens is then removed and replaced with an artificial permanent lens which has been selected for you. Only one eye is done at a time. It is very important to follow your doctor’s care instructions for several weeks after surgery to ensure a healthy and successful outcome.
