Overview *
|
|
After your hospital stay, your healthcare providers will give you self-care instructions before you go home. A nurse or other staff member should explain these discharge instructions to you. After surgery, if your condition permits it, you need to walk several times a day to keep blood clots from forming in your legs. There will also be restrictions on your activities for a period of time. If you are given medications at the time you are discharged, ensure you understand when you should take them and if there are any over the counter medications you should avoid. Know what warning signs, such as signs of infection, to watch out for. Ensure you have a list of any questions for your doctor at your follow up appointment.
